Biography
Sunara Ranasinghe has more than 10 years of experience teaching. She began her piano studies at the age of 6. She's the daughter of child prodigy and pianist Chintha Weerasooriya.
At Methodist College, Sunara was a member of the choir and band. She pursued her piano and Western Music winning prizes in school and the All-Island Prizes for Grades 3 & 4 (TCL) under the tutelage of Mrs Lalani Fernando.
Upon completion of the A'Level, Sunara took a different path and completed her BSc (Hons) degree in Computing (2015) from the University of Portsmouth UK while pursuing a career in IT for 8 years. In 2010 she made a career change to teaching music; teaching at Gateway College & Prestantia Music School.
In 2008 she resumed her piano studies with Mrs. Ryanthie Kumarasinghe, obtaining the ATCL certificate with a Distinction, and LTCL certificate with the highest mark in piano. She also obtained the LRSM certificate in Performance in 2020 under the guidance of Dr. Priyeshni Peiris Perera.
Musical Philosophy
Personally Sunara believes herself to be an 'eternal student' and a 'performing teacher'. She enjoys accompanying and performing alongside her students.

Sunara considers herself blessed to achieve her childhood dream of being a career musician and teacher. She draws inspiration from J. S. Bach (creativity) and Ludwig van Beethoven (innovation) to name a few
